(TotalConservative.com) – Seattle Police Department should apologize, again, for doing their job in response to the 2020 St. Floyd Riots according to a community panel’s fourth report on the matter. Seattle’s Office of Inspector General issued 22 recommendations in total, most of which were targeted at the police for enforcing the law.
The summary takes the cake, suggesting the police “acknowledge the harm to the BIPOC community” which they attribute to the police, while demanding a public apology. Curiously, they seem to forget that a public apology was already given in 2021. The case highlights the tendency of activists on the left to be emboldened by capitulation and to ignore attempts at compromise.
This was the fourth review of the Seattle Police Department by the Inspector General’s office. They complained, yet again, that officers failed to differentiate between peaceful protesters and violent criminal behavior.
If folks recall, Seattle was so lenient they tolerated a military occupation by armed terrorists in what was called the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) for several weeks before the violence in the area (specifically assaults against women and gun violence) was so untenable that the mayor finally ordered it to be cleared by police.
In August 2020, activists stormed a residential neighborhood in Seattle to harass locals for money, some even demanded white people give up their homes.
The 2020 St. Floyd Riots were an eruption of violence and chaos that occurred in the wake of the death of George Floyd which was caught on a viral video. Floyd’s official cause of death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner, and Officer Derek Chauvin was tried and convicted of his murder. The fact that Floyd had asked to be put on the ground, and was intoxicated with several drugs, including fentanyl came out at trial but wasn’t enough to sway the jury. Chauvin’s appeal for a new trial was rejected on Monday, April 17th and he’s currently serving a 20-year sentence.
