(TotalConservative.com) – A woman traveled to Switzerland to receive an assisted suicide, claiming she did so from the impact of abuse, although there may be more to the story than she let on before ending her life.
On May 27, 2023, 54-year-old Catherine Kassenoff of Westchester, New York, posted an announcement on her Facebook page informing her friends and family that she plans to end her own life via assisted suicide. She said it was “with profound heartbreak” that she was composing her “last post ever” before choosing to die in what she called a “dignified and idyllic setting.”
Kassendoff then went on to explain that she spent four years waking up “to a nightmare like no other,” and accused her husband, Allan Kassendoff, of “abuse and terror.” She claimed he also abused the children before gaining custody of them and separating from her, and that this, as well as her subsequent cancer diagnosis, is why she needed to kill herself. Her death made headlines at the time, detailing social media videos in which Kassendoff told her story.
The woman’s ex-husband is now coming forward to tell his side of the tale. In a recent New York Post article, her husband describes how Kassendoff killed herself in order to torture him and her children after accusations of abuse by Kassendoff against her adopted daughter. She even went as far as posting videos and documents online to smear her husband right before her death, leading to trolls and damaging commentary from social media influencers about her ex-husband, which he says was to make sure the torment went on after her death.
In another interview, Allan said that the plot went deeper than suicide and that Kassendoff spent years crafting a narrative portraying herself as the victim and him as her evil husband. She was clever, an accomplished attorney, and once served as New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s special counsel. Allan told the Post reporters that his ex-wife “went through with her suicide” in order to “destroy” him and the children.
Former nannies who worked for the family also came forward about witnessing Kassendoff’s abuse of the adopted child. The Free Press conducted an investigation over months, and while some witnesses described her as “very calm,” others found her to be “terrifying” and described her as a “psychopath.”
