RFK Jr’s ‘We The People’ Party Confirmed

(TotalConservative.com) – North Carolina confirmed the We The People Party of Robert F. Kennedy Jr, giving voters a new option for registration while denying Cornel West’s Justice for All Party in a recent board vote.

On Tuesday, July 16, the North Carolina Board of Elections voted to recognize the We The People Party as an official party in the state. In a statement, the board said that voters in North Carolina “now have eight choices when registering to vote” or when updating their existing registration. Those choices are Republican, Democrat, Constitution, Libertarian, Green, No Labels, We The People, or no party affiliation.

The party’s nominee for president is Kennedy alongside his vice presidential running mate, Nicole Shanahan. They have also endorsed Jeff Scott as their candidate for North Carolina’s Senate District 40, and for the Rowan County Commissioner, Mark Ortiz.

The party was approved in a vote of 4-1, while the Justice for All Party was denied in the same meeting in a vote of 3-2. The Justice for All Party supports public activist and author Cornel West. The board reportedly will not reconsider the decision.

GOP members of the board expressed their disagreement with denying access to either of the two parties voted on. Stacy Eggers, one of the Republican board members, said she thinks the board made “a tragic error” by not “deferring to the verified signatures” determined by the county’s board process. Eggers and Kevin Lewis, both Republicans, voted to approve the Justice for All Party, while its Democratic members, Siobhan Millan, Jeff Carmon, and Board Chairman Alan Hirsch all voted against it.

Hirsch said if someone wishes to challenge the decision in court, he said they were “welcome to do so” and may have a good case, although it was a “close call.” He said he isn’t sure the board should stand in the way of that challenge.

Democrats on the board challenged the legitimacy of the signatures presented by the We the People Party and the Justice for All Party, but the latter was especially challenged. Eggers accused her Democratic colleagues of “trying to prohibit access” to voters from legitimate candidates and said both parties presented the necessary signatures.
