(TotalConservative.com) – Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) blasted Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday, June 26th, saying the latter continues to “deflect” requests for more information regarding his role in the creation of a letter by Mike Morell. The letter in question suggested 51 former intelligence officials believed the Hunter Biden laptop story to be Russian disinformation. Both Jordan and Intel Committee chairman Mike Turner (R-OH) asked for more details.
Jordan said that Congress should use “all available options” to discover the truth of the matter. Both Turner and Jordan requested all communications and documentation pertaining to the ex-intelligence officials’ 2020 letter, which arguably interfered in the 2020 election by presenting pro-Biden disinformation from the American establishment. At the time, Blinken was working as a senior adviser to the Biden campaign.
In a tweet, Jordan suggested Blinken knew about Hunter’s corrupt association with Ukrainian gas company Burisma, where he sat on the board. Given Hunter’s lack of energy experience, it’s unknown what value he added to the corporation other than a direct line of access to then-VP Joe Biden. Jordan said that Blinken’s call prompted the generation of the now-infamous and discredited letter blaming ‘Russian disinformation’ on the laptop scandal.
Joe Biden later used the now-discredited letter as a defense when debating President Trump in the final debate; in other words, he lied.
Blinken’s high-powered attorney, Jonathan Su, works with Latham & Watkins LLP, and he gave three reasons why the claims against Blinken are baseless. The first is that Blinken didn’t request the statement from Mike Morell; he merely prompted its creation. Su then claimed their investigation doesn’t have a “valid legislative purpose.” Third that there was “no connection” between their investigations and Blinken prompting Morell to write the letter. The three-page letter ends with the smug sign-off, “I trust this satisfies your need for information on this matter.”
Jim Jordan and Mike Turner are not satisfied. They could subpoena Blinken or charge him with contempt of Congress should he continue to refuse to cooperate.
