(TotalConservative.com) – An illegal alien already arrested and charged twice by local law enforcement was arrested again in Maryland after already being let go previously.
On Wednesday, April 24, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a news release about the recent arrest of a Honduran national at his residence in Bladensburg, Maryland, on Monday, April 15. According to the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD), the 30-year-old illegal alien had been arrested previously on charges of sexually assaulting a minor.
The field office director from the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) unit in Washington, D.C., Liania Castano, said that the man is facing accusations of “very serious crimes” and posed a “threat to the children” of the area. She also blamed the policies of local jurisdictions that “prohibit” cooperation with ICE ERO’s “lawfully issued detainers and administrative warrants” for putting others at risk. Castano concluded that ERO would continue prioritizing public safety and will capture and remove “the most egregious noncitizen threats” to D.C. neighborhoods.
The ICE press release reveals that the illegal alien was previously arrested on July 5, 2023, for sexual assault on a child around the age of 13-14. A retainer was placed on the Honduran national, but the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (FCADC) released the suspect five days later after a bond of $10,000 was posted. He was then arrested again on Feb. 22, 2024, and charged with two more counts of the same charges. This time, he was released the same day, before ICE issued an immigration detainer.
ICE said the suspect will remain in custody until removal proceedings are deliberated in immigration court.
The illegal alien’s case is one of the latest examples of the immigration and border crisis’s impact on the US, leading not only to overflowing shelters and strain on American resources but to crimes from border crossers who have never been properly vetted. In February, a Venezuelan national who crossed into the US illegally murdered a nursing student in Georgia while she went out for a jog on campus.
