(TotalConservative.com) – Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi paid a visit to New York City to speak at a university on Monday and was heckled by a group of anti-war protesters who disrupted the event.
As the congresswoman was speaking with Paul Krugman, an economist and columnist for the New York Times, at an event held at the City University of New York, various protesters interrupted to shout at Pelosi before security removed them. “You know, Pelosi, that’s a very good place for you,” one heckler yelled, “in the depths of hell.” The disrupter told her she has “a very bad obsession of getting us [the U.S.] into war” and then asked, “Why is it that you did not admit that there were no WMDs in Iraq?”
The heckler continued, accusing Pelosi of lying us “into a war in Iraq,” getting us “into an invasion of Afghanistan,” and pointing out that 90% of the people in those nations “are impoverished and are dying.” The protester also asked Pelosi to “tell the truth about Nord Stream,” referring to the destruction of a pipeline in the Baltic Sea last September which many suspect the U.S. government had a hand in.
Another heckler stood up and said he “came to see a warmonger, but you’re a sad old drunk.” Members of the audience annoyed by the hecklers attempted to drown them out with boos and shouts.
This isn’t the first time anti-war leftwing activists have confronted the former House Speaker. Last August, they accused Pelosi of exacerbating tensions with China by taking a trip to Taiwan.
Pelosi recently praised her replacement, current House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, for meeting with the Taiwanese president in California. The meeting was held despite vague threats issued in a letter by the Chinese embassy that there would be consequences.
