(TotalConservative.com) – U.S. warmongers are already drooling over the potential of getting the military embroiled in yet another overseas conflict that has nothing to do with America. American leaders responded to a recent series of terrorist attacks launched by Palestinian authority Hamas, the de facto government for Palestinians living in the occupied territories.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was the first to threaten Iran if Hezbollah got involved in the attacks against Israel. Hamas and Hezbollah are both funded and supported by Iran according to the American State Department and others. Graham said that he would “make Iran pay a heavy price” should Hezbollah join in the attack on Israel.
He told his “Israeli friends” to do whatever they must for as long as they have to in order to win. He then told Fox News viewers that escalation by Hezbollah would earn a U.S. response including U.S. military targeting Iranian oil infrastructure.
He further lambasted Iran, claiming they were just as culpable as Hamas for the attacks against Israeli civilians.
Sec. of State Antony Blinken acknowledged that Iran has funded Hezbollah and Hamas during a discussion with NBC News. Blinken was recently criticized by conservatives for unfreezing $6 billion in Iranian finances, money that will allow Iran more wiggle room to fund organizations like Hamas. Blinken defended the decision claiming these weren’t taxpayer dollars, but Iranian assets sitting in a foreign bank. The release was in exchange for the freedom of five U.S. citizens being detained in Iran.
Former U.N. Ambassador and huge Israel supporter Nikki Haley suggested the attack on Israel was also an attack on America. She instructed Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu to “finish them.”
The potential for the conflict expanding exists with everyone threatening to pile on. The U.S. is positioning a carrier strike group closer to the region “as a show of support.” Some commentators have suggested this is a precursor to a strike on Iran, something US warmongers have been advocating for since the 9/11 attacks.
