GOP Looks to Defund Davos

(TotalConservative.com) – Congressional Republicans with Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) leading the charge, have put forth a new bill on January 19th that would prohibit federal agencies or other federal grant money to support the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Speaking with Breitbart News, Perry’s representatives suggested that the WEF wants to coerce or outright force Americans to drive electric cars, eat bugs, and always obey dictates from global authorities.

The Defund Davos Act is just one page long and very plainly prohibits taxpayer dollars from going to the WEF.

Specifically the bill highlights the State Department and United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Cosponsors of Perry’s bill include Reps. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Tom Tiffany (R-WI), Andy Ogles (R-TN), Diana Harshbarger (R-TN), and Matt Rosendale (R-MT).

Every year the WEF has an annual gathering in Davos, Switzerland, where invited VIPs congregate to ponder what policies and ideologies best serve the long term interest of the planet’s elite population.

The summit for 2024 was built around “Rebuilding Trust” suggesting that the authorities had lost a lot of credibility in the aftermath of the pandemic and subsequent economic fallout.

Each ticket to the Davos summit runs roughly $40,000, and that’s not including the price of lodging, travel, and formalwear for fancy dinner parties.

In 2023, the WEF managed to secure $9.1 million in taxpayer funded federal grants from USAID. In the past, the WEF secured over $50 million in taxpayer funded grant money via a multi-year grant that was approved in 2015. That grant was intended to help long-term economic growth and advance U.S. foreign policy goals.

Biden had several representatives in attendance this year including Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan. Blinken encouraged the creation of an independent Palestinian state during his address.

Perry called the use of taxpayer funds by the WEF “reprehensible” and highlighted how the event in Davos is held in some of the most lavish and luxurious surroundings in the world.
