(TotalConservative.com) – A White House official under scrutiny is downplaying his past remarks after facing backlash from the public after social media users dug up controversial social media posts opposing the police, supporting anti-Israel protest movements, and promoting the “Russiagate” conspiracy theories.
Last week, White House official Tyler Cherry was promoted to associate director of communications after three years working with the Department of Interior under Interior Secretary Deb Haaland. After the promotion, Cherry faced online backlash from conservative critics who not only blasted the official for feminine attire and LGBTQ ideology but dug into his social media post history.
What they found were old posts bashing cops, supporting the pro-Palestine movement, and pushing disproven “Russiagate” conspiracies about former President Donald Trump and the 2016 presidential election. In a 2015 post, the White House official prayed for “an end to the capitalistic police state” he said was “motivated by explicit and implicit racial biases.” That particular remark was posted by Cherry at the time of widespread protests and riots following the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore, Maryland, while in police custody.
Months after that post, Cherry claimed modern policing directly evolved from “slave patrols and lynch mobs.” Users also found a lot of posts that were against the state of Israel and opposed to what he called the “occupation of Palestine.” The White House official also called to abolish the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Many posts were aimed at Republicans as well, who Cherry said were fixated on “white grievance politics.”
On Sunday, June 23, Cherry responded to the criticisms following his promotion by claiming the social media posts from his past did not reflect his “current views” followed by the curt statement, “Period.” Cherry continued by stating he supported the agenda of the Biden administration and would continue his “communications work” focused on “climate and environmental policies.”
Conservatives also criticized the White House official for his attire, and shared photos of him in promiscuous attire at LGBTQ events, highlighting the fact that Biden continues to surround himself with those pushing the extreme forms of progressivism.
