(TotalConservative.com) – The old public service announcement asking parents if they know where their children are might require a comeback after multiple minors under the age of 17 were shot and injured during a shooting outside a mall in Indianapolis.
The sound of gunfire erupted shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 30. Officers responded to Circle Center Mall where six minors were found with gunshot wounds, one child received an injury that wasn’t a direct hit from a bullet. All of the victims were between the ages of 12 and 17.
Deputy Chief of Operations for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Tanya Terry called the event “deeply concerning” and pointed out that young people were using firearms to resolve conflicts. She said that children were congregating in the area downtown after the mall closed and that parents should be more responsible in monitoring their children’s whereabouts.
No arrests have been made thus far and officials haven’t disclosed any details about the suspects or their investigation publicly.
Local NBC affiliate WTHR reports that this is the third weekend in a row where a shooting has occurred in Indianapolis. Five people were shot, including one cop, after a suspect opened fire on Sunday, March 24. The suspect was killed by police. Off-duty cops working as security in their police uniforms heard a disturbance in the parking lot which resulted in someone pulling and firing a gun. One of the officers was injured in the exchange. The suspect was taken for medical attention, but died at the hospital from his wounds.
On March 16, one person was killed and five more injured during a shooting in a bar. An argument broke out at the Broad Ripple bar resulting in the death of a 37-year-old father and five more people being injured. The fight started between two women, and resulted in six men being injured by gunfire. One man died.
The suspect was tracked down using surveillance footage and was arrested and charged with murder, battery, and additional crimes.
