DeSantis Set to Visit South Carolina Ahead of His Expected 2024 Campaign

(TotalConservative.com) – Potential Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will be making his first public appearance in the state of South Carolina this month. If he decides to launch a bid for the White House, winning votes in South Carolina will be crucial for a GOP nomination.

DeSantis has been on a “Florida Blueprint” tour following the publication of his new book, already paying visits to New York, Pennsylvania, and most recently to Michigan.

As reported to The Associated Press, Sen. Josh Kimbrell said on Sunday that he plans on hosting the governor of Florida at an event in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on April 19.

Kimbrell, who’s combined efforts with a PAC encouraging DeSantis to jump into the 2024 race, said he’s been hoping to get DeSantis to visit for months. He’s been telling anyone associated with the DeSantis team that they’ve “got to get here early and often” if they want to win.

Other Republican candidates have already been hosted in South Carolina, such as former governor of the state Nikki Haley, as well as former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson. Some other candidates expected to run have also visited, such as former Vice President Mike Pence.

Although Kimbrell says there’s much he agrees with Trump on regarding policy but he’s not a fan of the former president’s approach and believes DeSantis is a better alternative. He said he believes DeSantis “is as popular among my base as Trump” but he needs to visit South Carolina more in order to make his case that he’s the preferable choice.

Trump is currently doing better in the polls since being indicted in NY by district attorney Alvin Bragg, which seems to have reversed his portrayal in the media from a bad guy to a victim being persecuted by his political enemies.

DeSantis still hasn’t officially announced his presidential campaign and seems to be holding off until the last minute.
