Judge Rules To Disbar Eastman

(TotalConservative.com) – A California judge has stripped one lawyer of his law license for his role in attempting to de-certify the 2020 election results and send alternative electors to the Electoral College. State Bar Judge Yvette Roland called his behavior “misconduct” in her official ruling. Roland was appointed to the Los Angeles based court by a Democrat almost a decade ago.

The California State Bar accused John Eastman of 11 counts of misbehavior last year, demanding he be disbarred. Roland threw out one of the counts, with prejudice, meaning it cannot be brought up again. She agreed with the rest of them.

The state alleged “false and misleading statements” about the 2020 election and even went so far as to claim Eastman had a hand in “provoking” the January 6 riot at the Capitol. The judge additionally penalized Eastman, slapping him with a $10,000 fine.

Eastman’s legal team announced they will appeal the decision with the expectation it will eventually land at the California Supreme Court. The judge ordered Eastman’s law license be moved to “inactive” status pending the outcome of his appeals, effectively stripping him of his ability to practice law.

Eastman was primarily responsible for conjuring the strategy of sending alternative electors, a practice with a legal and historical basis. The plan relied on then-Vice President Mike Pence swapping out the electors during the ceremonial certification vote.

In an almost Orwellian fashion, Roland wrote that Eastman continued to maintain his innocence which she calls “a lack of remorse.” She argued that this exacerbates his offenses. Similarly, Trump defending himself from accusations of wrongdoing in the E. Jean Carroll case was weaponized against him in ongoing defamation proceedings which Trump is appealing.

Roland did agree that one of the counts was ridiculous. That count alleged that a speech Eastman made at the Ellipse on January 6 contributed to the riot. Roland said the state bar produced no evidence to back up that assertion at trial.
