Michigan Gov Makes Odd Prediction about Upcoming Primary

(TotalConservative.com) – Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) predicted that the Democratic primary in her state would yield a “sizeable” percentage of “uncommitted” votes due to popular sentiment in the state’s Muslim population that Biden has failed to manage the war in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas.

Progressive Democrats including Squad-member Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) advocated that anyone concerned about Biden’s handling of the conflict vote “uncommitted” in the primary to send Biden a message. The state has a large Palestinian and Muslim immigrant population, many of whom still have family in the Middle East.

Whitmer also highlighted that there were a lot of progressive Jews in her state who are also concerned about the handling of the conflict. She added that Jews and Muslims live peacefully together in Michigan, implying they should be able to do so elsewhere in the world.

Biden has thus far resisted calls to back a stringent demand for a ceasefire. He’s been advocating for humanitarian aid and temporary pauses in the conflict while encouraging Hamas release its hostages. He recently suggested a ceasefire could emerge at any time, but critics disagreed with some suggesting he was attempting to dissuade voters from voting uncommitted as the surprise announcement was made the day before the Michigan primary. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was reportedly surprised by the announcement.

The Michigan primary was held on Tuesday, February 27 and the results have come in. Whitmer’s projection was accurate, with over 100,000 Democrats voting uncommitted. Biden received a majority of the vote with over 600,000 votes in the primary. Challengers Rep. Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson each received around 20,000 votes.

As to how many of those voters would vote for Trump, another candidate, or simply stay home due to lack of enthusiasm for the contest in November is still unknown. Much of that will depend on Biden’s continued handling and the eventual outcome in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Despite assurances from Biden, Israel’s leadership is intent on eradicating Hamas, which can only be achieved with more fighting in Gaza.
