(TotalConservative.com) – Former United Nations ambassador and current GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley is refusing to promise to endorse former President Donald Trump in the event that he wins the Republican nomination, despite her past remarks.
Haley appeared on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, Feb. 18, and told host Jonathan Karl that she would not support Trump as the GOP nominee.
Karl asked Haley about previous remarks she made in which she said that she would support Trump if he claimed the nomination, and then noted that Trump has since promised not to support NATO allies who fail to spend on their own defenses, as well as accused the former president of encouraging Russia “to do whatever the hell it wants” to NATO nations. He then asked Haley if she stood by her previous pledge to support the former president if he defeated her in the primaries.
Haley replied by reminding Karl that she is “running against [Trump] for a reason,” which she clarified is because she doesn’t think he’s “the right person at the right time” for the job. The former South Carolina governor said who she would support is “the last thing” on her mind because she’s focused on her own campaign and trying to “correct what’s happening in America” and reunite the country.
When Karl mentioned again that Haley had “already said” she would support Trump, she interrupted him and said America will have “a female president” and that it would either be her or Vice President Kamala Harris. Some are even calling on Harris to invoke the 25th and take office sooner rather than later.
Haley is adamant that Trump will not win if he’s the nominee and claims that “every poll shows that.” She added that she would not allow that to happen and has no plans to end her campaign, which she said is in the race “for the long haul.”
So far, Haley has not been faring well against Trump, who has already won party support in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada. Their next face-off will be in Haley’s home state of South Carolina.
